DOLOMITES - THE MUSIC TO THE PHOTOGRAPHS

RACHEL PORTMAN | Dialogue with the Light and the Hidden

From delicate whispers to dramatic force, from sunny, warm and soft to mineral, windy and crystalline — a rich palette of tonal colours shapes Rachel Portman’s masterful poetic soundscape of the Pale Mountains.
She succeeds in distilling the very nature of the majestic Dolomite world and translating it into sound, bringing to life its unique character: the glowing, the soaring, the fragmented, the mysterious, and even the timeless.

The ensemble chosen by the composer, the LGT Young Soloists, a group of exceptionally young string musicians, transports emotions such as sublimity, longing, and tension with virtuosity, evoking entire landscapes through their playing.

Rachel Portman creates a work of great sensitivity and depth — a dialogue with nature as a mirror of the inner self, of light and of what lies hidden.

Sony Classical has released these compositions on the album “Dolomites” by the LGT Young Soloists on streaming platforms.
